Q&A
  1. What is the average shelf life for adult pads?

The Defibtech DDU 100 E Adult Pads have an average shelf life of up to two years. You must change the pads once they have been in use for this period of time.  Keeping the pads in good condition will give you peace of mind that your defibrillator is ready for use.

It is important to arrange frequent defibrillator testing so that you can be certain that there are no problems, such as the need for new pads.

  2. What are the features of the pads?

The pads are intended to assist someone who has suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. Having the pads connected to your defibrillator reduces the time it takes to deliver the treatment. It also allows the pads to be assessed during the weekly self-test, highlighting any issues with the pads. The diagrams on the pad indicate to the user how they should be placed, which helps untrained responders through the process. The pads are also sealed in foil packaging, ensuring the product is protected from damage.

  3. Can I reuse the pads?

After you have used the pads, whether adult or paediatric, you will need to purchase fresh ones. Defibrillation pads are single-use items that cannot be used on another patient. The defibrillation pads are intended for use on a single patient.

  4. Why do adults require different pads?

There are alternative pads for children and adults because they are required to deliver different levels of shock. Paediatric pads are designed to deliver a milder electric shock than adult pads. Adult pads should be used for children weighing more than 55 pounds or above the age of eight, as the reduced shock will likely not be enough.
