Q&A
  1. What are the features of the Lifepak 1000 Replacement Battery?

The Lifepak 1000 Replacement Battery is designed to replace a defibrillator battery that is low, expired, or faulty. The replacement battery has a lifespan of  5 years and 17 hours of monitoring time. The battery, which delivers around 440 shocks at 200 joules, is well-equipped to provide the treatment required to assist someone in sudden cardiac arrest.

Along with a replacement lithium battery, you'll also receive a battery discharger and instructions on how to properly dispose of your old battery. It is critical to properly dispose of your old batteries since they contain chemicals that can harm humans and the environment. If the batteries are not disposed of properly, then it is likely that they’ll end up in a landfill where the chemicals have the potential to leak.

  2. Why do I need a replacement battery?

Defibrillators need batteries to function. Like most batteries, defibrillator batteries have a limited charge and eventually run out of power. To replace outdated, non-functioning, or expired batteries replacements are required.  In the event of a sudden cardiac arrest, you’ll want to make sure that your defibrillator is ready to give the treatment that could potentially save someone's life.

  3. How will I know that my defibrillator needs a new battery?

A defibrillator battery typically lasts for five years, however, this varies depending on the device and how frequently it has been used. If your defibrillator requires a new battery, your device will show either a "low battery" or "replace battery now” prompt. The defibrillator also performs self-tests weekly to ensure everything is in working order. If there is an issue with the battery, the defibrillator will detect it during the self-tests.

Having a fully-functioning defibrillator is critical when responding to someone in sudden cardiac arrest. Don’t get caught out by not having a working battery, make sure you perform checks and have a replacement ready.

  4. How many times can you use a defibrillator battery?

Defibrillator batteries can only be used once. When changing the battery, it is important to make sure you use a new battery and not one that has come from another device or one that may have some charge. As old batteries contain hazardous chemicals, it is critical that you dispose of them properly. Defibrillator batteries can be recycled like normal batteries, and you can often do this at your local supermarket.
