Earlier this year, the Cloone Defibrillator Group was called into action when its volunteer responders attended a serious medical emergency in the local community. Their rapid response and dedication demonstrated the critical role that trained community volunteers play when every second counts.

Thanks to the swift actions of the Cloone Defibrillator Group and the emergency services, survivor David McKeon was given a second chance. Through our Forward Hearts Programme, David was subsequently invited to donate a life-saving defibrillator, free of charge, to an organisation of his choice, helping to strengthen community preparedness and potentially save more lives in the future.

At this week's presentation ceremony, David spoke about the impact of the responders who came to his aid and the importance of community defibrillator initiatives:

"I am forever grateful to the First Responders and volunteers who attended to me so quickly at the scene of my accident and for their use of the AED. No words can fully express the strength, courage, kindness, calmness and dedication they showed during what was an incredibly difficult moment for me. I am also deeply thankful to the paramedics who provided exceptional care and support.

A massive thank you to the Cloone Defibrillator Group for their incredible commitment, not only in providing defibrillators throughout the local community but also in ensuring that these devices are regularly checked, monitored, maintained and upgraded. Their dedication highlights the true value of community support and the importance of keeping life-saving equipment ready for use when it is needed most."
